We have a client in York PA that needs someone to analyze their Access database. A previous employee built the database and now it runs slowly and they are having challenges with input and output. They need someone to come down and spend time to analyze what they have and how it might be fixed. They originally requested a new SQL database be created but after visiting the client I am convinced they just need someone to update and maintain the database they have. I doubt anyone has administered the data tables or done any work to clean and archive the data. I think this is why it is running slow. We are looking for someone who has experience to go down for 10-40 hours and analyze thier situation. The output required would be a written report describiing the challenges and potential solutions. Our total estimate for the analysis in 800-1500 dollars just to go there and write the report. Once they know what the issues are, then we would submit a bid to fix them. May lead to follow on work to administer the database periodically.

I am located in Berwyn, PA and my proposal includes an onsite visit with the customer to understand their needs for this database - what works well and what doesn't, full analysis of current situation, a remediation plan to fix their current issue and a transition plan to get them to where they want to be.

I am software programmer with very good technical background in large scale of both windows and web based applications, mostly having databases of huge capacity. I have really designed and participated as well in designs of such huge projects (in Electricity Board, India Railways, etc). I am well versed in Sql Server, Oracle, and MS Access. I have worked in several reporting modules of such s/w. I also do analysing of Sql db trace and DMVStats. This way I can suggest problem areas of db by analysing queries/views/procedures/functions/indexes,etc.
