| Description: |
We need someone with knowledge of Perl scripting to write a script that connects via Internet to a game server utilizing simple packet structure, commonly known as an "eAthena emulator."
In detail:
An eAthena emulator provides a "Ragnarok" game server that allows players to connect and play together. It has 3 parts: the login server, the character server, and the map server, which all interact with a SQL database. When a player logs in, they connect to the login server, which checks the login information, which now sends them to the character server, which loads their pertinent character data, and then sends them to the map server, where players interact with other players on the "maps" in the map server. These inter-server connections require a host password.
What we require is a tool that would allow us to connect to the character server, and save information to the SQL database via the character server without requiring explicit access to the SQL database, but still requires use of the inter-server password.
These eAthena emulators are common freeware, downloadable via www.eathena.ws/board/, the main eAthena site or more specifically, http://svn.eathena.ws/svn/ea/trunk/, the SVN repository, or more pre-compiled folders.
More information is available upon request.
Attached is a simple Perl script that checks the count of online players from the login server after logging in, as a quick example.
